The idea behind this itinerary: Muscat and its wadis first, then the inland loop by 4x4 with a private driver (nights at a luxury camp in the dunes of the Sharqiya Sands, the fort of Nizwa, the plateaus of Jabal Akhdar), and the sea to finish: a day at the Daymaniyat Islands, four nights at a five-star resort, and a sunset dhow cruise.

01Days 1 to 2
Your private driver welcomes you at the airport, followed by check-in at a refined hotel and a first evening of Omani flavors. The next day, a local guide opens up the capital: the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and its crystal chandelier, the Royal Opera House, then the Mutrah souk (perfumes, silver jewelry, spices), before old Muscat, the Al Alam Palace, and a stroll along the corniche facing the Gulf of Oman.
02Day 3
Head southeast along the coast for a freshwater day. At Wadi Shab, a walk between palm groves and sheer walls leads to emerald pools where you swim deep in the gorge. Wild and soothing at once. A packed picnic, then a stop at the Bimmah Sinkhole, a natural crater filled with turquoise water ringed by pale rock. Back to Muscat in the late afternoon.
03Days 4 to 5
The road leaves the coast for Wadi Bani Khalid, an oasis tucked into the mountains: turquoise pools, palm groves, a swim in limpid water. In the afternoon, the tracks push into the Sharqiya Sands: dune driving by 4x4, then arrival at a luxury camp deep in the sands. A camel ride, sunset on the crests, and dinner under a sky of rare clarity, with Bedouin stories and music.
04Day 6
Out of the desert, Nizwa, the former capital and spiritual heart of the Sultanate. From the ramparts of the fort and its great seventeenth-century round tower, the view sweeps over palm groves and mountains; below, the souk lines up silverwork, khanjar daggers, spices, and rugs. In the afternoon, as you wish: Jabrin Castle or the Oman Across the Ages museum, before an evening at a refined hotel nearby.
05Day 7
The road climbs in hairpins to the plateaus of Jabal Akhdar, the “Green Mountain” perched above 6,500 feet. Terraced villages cling to the slopes, pomegranate trees and roses watered by the aflaj, the thousand-year-old channels; in spring, rose water is distilled here. With your guide, panoramic trails link the hamlets along the rim of the gorges, before a night at a charming hotel suspended over the void.
06Day 8
Back down on the coast, you board a private boat at the Muscat marina, bound for the Daymaniyat Islands nature reserve. Mask and snorkel among turtles, fish, and unspoiled coral, and a pause on a secluded beach where a carefully prepared picnic is served right on the sand. Return in the late afternoon and check-in at a five-star resort facing the sea.
07Days 9 to 12
The last days slow down: a private beach, infinity pools facing the Gulf of Oman, a spa of Eastern rituals. And, if the mood strikes, a return to the souk or a boat trip to meet the dolphins. One evening, a privately chartered traditional dhow leaves the marina at sunset, dinner served on deck among lanterns and coves. Then the transfer to the airport, eyes still full of dunes and shorelines.
